Under direction of the Construction Official (for the Township of Washington, Borough of Washington and Oxford Township) Seeking an experienced Electrical Sub Code Official for part-time hours, who will in accordance with the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code, evaluate all new electrical installation work for the Township of Washington UCC Department for compliance with permitted plans, Local ordinances, along State and Federal codes.  Under direction of the Construction Official, perform electrical plan review in conformance with the Uniform Construction Code. HHS and Sub-Code Official Licenses are mandatory for this position. Salary shall be in accordance with the current Salary Resolution. DEFINITION:  Review land development proposals and determine compliance with State, County, and/or Municipal regulations. Preparation of the Township Master Plan Amendments and Re-Examination Reports..  Prepare application review reports to the Land Use Board; Attend Land Use Board meetings regularly as the Board Planner and provide guidance on land development regulations to the Land Use Board and Township Committee; Prepare various types of reports including graphic, statistical, and written representations.  Attend meetings to discuss new and existing development applications with developers and applicants. Coordinate and review redevelopment activities with other Township departments, outside agencies, and developers. Perform other duties as assigned.

Carries out policies of the Land Use Board or other authority responsible for the planning agency.  Prepares the preparation of Master Plan Amendments and Re-Examination Reports. Plans, promotes, organizes, and administers a comprehensive long- term planning service.  Prepares suitable and comprehensive reports.  Oversees compliance with all affordable housing.

Six (6) years of professional experience in Municipal, County, Regional, or State Planning.

Possession of a current, valid license as a Professional Planner in New Jersey issued by the State Board of Professional Planners.

 Knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures of State, Municipal, and Regional planning including the affordable housing act. Knowledge of and familiarity with varied problems brought about by growth of urban centers, movements of population, and changing character of individual urban, suburban, and rural areas. Knowledge of the location, relocation, development, and/or loss of   industrial opportunities, traffic conditions, housing shortages, and other contemporary conditions affecting the social and economic status of the State or local government.  Knowledge of preparing and implementing Redevelopment Area Plans with the Local Housing and Redevelopment. Knowledge of how land use influences community development.  Knowledge of advantages and disadvantages of alternative uses for land.  Ability to function under pressure such as time limitations or intense public interest.  Ability to keep current with literature in the field of planning and with current trends of thought and significant developments in present day planning activities.  Send resume and cover letter to Peter deBoer, Township of Washington, 211 Route 31 North, Washington, NJ 07882, or email to admin@washington-twp-warren-org. The Township of Washington will be accepting applications for part-time substitute crossing guard positions for Washington Borough Schools.  Positions are open immediately and will be based on an hourly rate of $19.61 for 2024.

All Washington Borough crossing guards are under the authority and direction of the Washington Township Police Department.  All applicants must be in good overall health, be authoritative, and be willing to make the safety of our children a priority while at their crossing guard posts.  Applicants must be willing to be readily available when called to fill in for emergencies.  All required equipment and training will be provided by the police department.
